Phoenix Firebirds
Hall of Fame
Voted into the FBFL Hall of Fame in 2009, Chris Barber was the first ever to have the distinction of being an FBFL Hall of Famer. Chris is married to Trudy and has 3 children, Mike, Daniel and Crystal. Mike and Daniel were both part of the FBFL family for several years before deciding to move on to bigger, better things. Chris has been a member of the FBFL since 1997 and has been one of the most successful teams in the history of the league. In his first two seasons, Chris had his Firebirds on the brink of the playoff race but was just shy of making it to the post-season. In 1999, the Firebirds made a transaction that changed the face of the franchise picking up little known Patrick Jeffers who scored multiple touchdowns on a weekly basis and propelled the Firebirds into the playoffs with a 6-7-1 record. The Firebirds went from there and took out power house PPE then the Rattlers and finally defeated Eclectic to get their first FBFL championship with a 9-7-1 record. From then on, the Firebirds didn't look back and didn't take any prisoners as they rattled off 3 more championships in a row. After taking a short hiatus from the post season, the Firebirds were back into the running in 2005 where they made it to the championship game only to take their first ever playoff loss. Then in 2006, the Firebirds were back in it taking home their 5th championship in 6 tries. The 'Birds have compiled an outstanding 17-2 post season record that nobody has come close to accomplishing. Through 2010, the 'Birds have compiled a 127-86-2 record which is a .596 winning percentage in 14 seasons. Chris has also served on the FBFL board helping with complex decisions and attending meetings a couple times a year to help develop the agenda for the annual meeting. Chris has been an important piece of the growth of the FBFL and has always helped make the right decision for the league to continue to grow and become a better league for our friends and family.
