Meeting Decisions

Playoff Rules: Weinis actually called me during the playoffs and asked if I was going to take Joseph Randle or not and I thought that meant if I wanted him I could but otherwise he was going to grab him for the Mid Bowl game he was playing. According to Weinis at the meeting he didn’t give a fuck as to what I was going to do, he was just making small talk to start a conversation. Regardless of how it came out, I came up with the idea that the Beer Bowl Tournament teams should have first choice on picking up players from the free agent market. What we decided was that the Beer Bowl tournament gets first crack at free agents after week 14 of the regular season. ANY player picked up after week 14 is a NON-PROTECTABLE player. This is so non-playoff teams don’t lose out on a protectable player due to this rule.

Trade Deadline: Trade Deadline was moved to end of week 12 so the only time you cannot trade within the league is weeks 13, 14 and during the playoffs.

IR Players: This has been worked around a tad bit and has become more of a crutch than a protection so the new rule is you MUST keep an IR player on the IR and on your roster for 2 weeks. You can NOT IR a guy for a week and then drop him, he must stay on your IR. If you trade said player to another team, they MUST have an IR slot available or someone who is droppable off the IR that’s been on the IR for 2 or more weeks.

Scoring Changes: No Changes.

Pre-season Trading: No Changes

Protected Players 2016: We already voted to throw everyone back in this season so that was easy but that, of course, brings up the fun of voting on what to do next. Joker brought up a rule last season that was intriguing but needed to be polished by the board before bringing it to vote so we did that week before the big meeting. The idea behind this is wherever you DRAFT a player, that draft position is tied to that player and if you choose to protect them the following year, they will fill into that spot. I.E., if you take Antonio Bryant in the 3rd round and you choose to protect him the following year he will automatically fill in to the 3rd round. There were stipulations that needed to be voted on and this is how they went:

1)Traded and acquired players – The pick travels with the player

2)If a player is not drafted but acquired – He will be tied to your 16thpick, if you have 2 like that the next player your 15th.

3)If you end up with 2 guys who end up with the same draft round to protect then 1 of the players slides back a spot. (If you have 2 – 9thround protectable players, they would fill in at 9 & 10.

4)Loss of draft order – If the draft order would be lost due to my drunkenness that occurs at the draft then the following year we will go back to supplemental draft rule. One thing that can help with this is the commissioners do type the roster into the laptop as the draft occurs now, once the draft is over, Randy will email a copy to Opi immediately to give a solid backup.

5)Owners seeing the draft order for trades – The draft order will be posted onwww.fbfl-qc.comby week 1 to help in the facilitation of trades. The commissioner’s jobs are NOT to be asked this information as it will be available for all owners.

This was voted in despite bringing up the fact that some owners wanted to just throw everyone back in every season or we could just go back to the supplemental protections we’ve done in the past. It was decided that this was worth a shot and in 2 years we will look at it and see what we think. It puts a lot of pressure on the commissioners to get it right at the draft but as long as that goes smooth then this should run fine.

We drew for Home Field Advantage for next year’s Beer Bowl and the Dog Pound will be hosting giving me the fucking kiss of death to be in the Your Team Sucks Ass Bowl.

We then picked the 2015 draft order which is out on www.fbfl-qc.com.

Election of board members went to Rob Barber and Ryan Behrens.

We then tossed bags until about 1am and got completely fuckered up and some of us ended up down at Parkside to round the night off.

We also had a couple of trades as the Jokers and Rattlesnakes swapped teams/leagues which is legal to do at any time as long as no players change hands. The Demons and Bruisers switched draft positions and also made random draft slot trades along the way which will reflect during the draft coming this August.
